I have always found 'About' pages a little strange. They seem very egocentric. It's about the company, not the customer. And yet, every company has one it seems. And so here I am, writing this, and here you are, reading this.
Perhaps you're looking for our 'brand story'. I can assure you, there isn't a particularly exciting one. Many brand stories of pet food brands start with how their pet was ill, then they switched to this brand or style of food and 'Magic!', everything was fixed.
That is not our story.
We're first-time dog-owners. Our first dog, Benji (below, right), was fed raw since he was about 6 months old, when we become aware of raw feeding. Our most recent dog, Rosie (below, left) - an adopted dog - has been fed raw food since we got her.
But there were no illnesses. Neither of our dogs has ever been ill. It's simpler than that.
My wife and I are dog lovers to the extreme, and also nerds (especially my wife). When we found out about raw feeding, we read everything we could get our hands on. Blogs. Academic papers. Research studies. We asked every dog owner we met what they fed their dogs. Every trainer we worked with.
All the evidence points to the conclusion that a high-quality*, raw-fed diet is the absolute best thing we can do for our dogs' health.
But there's plenty of raw dog food brands, so why start this? It's a fair question.
One of the other aspects of raw feeding is convenience. When feeding kibble, you can buy a 6 ton sack which lasts for months. Easy. With raw, it's a little less space-efficient. You need it fresh. Or, usually, frozen. Freezer space is an issue.
And then there's the maths... endless maths of what to feed from the tub, how many tubs you need, weighing on scales. The washing up. The nearly running out of food every couple of weeks.
There has to be a better owner experience.
So we started Raw & Paw for 2 reasons.
Along the way, we aim to educate owners on the benefits of raw feeding, and give other help and advice in keeping their dogs as healthy as possible. We know not everyone is as nerdy as us, or even has the time to do the research. That's OK. That's why we're here.
We work with leading suppliers and nutritionists to formulate the best product we can. Then, we package and distribute it in the most convenient way possible. For more details about the product, read about Our Food.
If you're here wondering if you should sign up, I hope I have convinced you. Either way, I hope you give raw feeding a go if you're not already. Even if it is not with us. Your dogs will thank you.
All the best,
Jayson, Founder and CEO
*There are many raw food brands that exist - both good and bad. As a general rule, you will get what you pay for. Intensively reared meat is as harmful to dogs as it is for humans. Some brands' food contains significantly more bone than is recommended, as it’s a cheap way to pad out meals, particularly as when ground finely enough, bone resembles meat. However, this will cause your dog harm. Be mindful of the ingredients going into your dog's food.
